This is also why Silksong will be free for those who kickstarted Hollowknight. Team Cherry announced Silksong because we were already aware that Team Cherry was working on a playable Hornet dlc. Playable Hornet was a kickstarter goal, the devs kept building on this goal until it turned into Silksong. xD If you knew even the tiniest bit of history about Hollowknight's development it would make sense and you wouldn't have to scratch your head and do a whole song and dance. I won't bore you by repeating everything I've already said. What DOESN'T make sense is the company announcing the game the very second they have started production on it. In fact, that doesn't even come remotely close to addressing anything I said.ĭelays are an understandable thing that happen, and in this day and age, despite how disturbingly common delays have become, those sorts of things happen. We did see an Xbox showcase that said it would release the first half of 2023 but it was delayed. Originally posted by Birck:They don't give a release date because they don't want to miss one. Doing it so early isn't usually a very good idea, and the companies who pull that off successfully are NORMALLY in the minority. Usually you want to save giving a reveal of a game in development to hype your fan base up for when you're closing in on completion and have a clear deadline. I'm just confused about the company's marketing process. Make no mistake, I'm not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on HK:SS in any regard. Like, as an example? I'm excited as hell for Death Stranding 2, but it's clear the game was announced LONG before they even had a gameplay reveal of some kind, something Hollow Knight: Silk Song has over DS2 in SPADES. But I'd have a REALLY hard time keeping people excited about the only new game in my two-game franchise were I in this game development company. It's that the announcement was made LONG before the game was ready to get any kind of logistics for marketing going. There's nothing wrong with something being planned in advance before it's even announced. It was planned before the first game even dropped.
